Why Quality Parish status?
“A commitment to excellence for the community”
Launched by the Government in 2003, this scheme provides a benchmark for standards in local Councils. It is supported by 6 National Stakeholders, the Commission for Rural Communities, the Department for Communities and Local Government, the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the Local Government Association, the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) and the Society of Local Council Clerks.
The scheme was updated in June 2008 in response to the increased professionalism of parish and town Councils and now includes three new tests that councils must satisfy:
Ÿ
The adoption of the NALC/SLCC Terms and Conditions for their clerks and the issuing of employment contracts to all paid members of staff.
Ÿ
A training strategy for both staff and councillors.
If you would like to read more information on the scheme click here to visit the National Association of Local Council’s web site.
Walford Parish Council, after careful consideration, firmly believe that by seeking to attain the aforementioned accolade, it will be better placed  to serve the local community.
